NC Supporting Diversity

During the 2019 DRIVE Summit, Governor Cooper announced the establishment of the DRIVE Task Force – charged to develop recommendations to create a more diverse and inclusive educator workforce in North Carolina. Since the publishing of the DRIVE Task Force Final Report & Recommendations in January of 2021, Task Force members have been hard at work advocating for the implementation of recommendations. Continuing to recognize the critical importance of the issue, Governor Cooper demonstrated his commitment to diversifying the educator workforce, by proposing and appropriation of $2 million for a pilot program in his 2021-2023 budget proposal.
